01 · The idea

Ghana builds more than it shows. The work exists. It just has nowhere to live.

  • A launch post. A day of likes, then buried by the feed.
  • A GitHub repo. Three stars, all from friends.
  • A pitch deck. Sitting in an inbox that never replied.
  • A phone in a pocket. Shown to one person at a time.
What creators get, one page at a timerest
  • Project of the Day. One project, chosen every day, at the top of the homepage.
  • Trending. A live ranking of what people upvote, so new work can rise fast.
  • Creator profiles. A page for every builder, with their work, badges and followers.
  • The weekly drop. Five projects in your inbox every Monday.

02 · Design

The mark is the Black Star Gate. Independence Square in Accra, reduced to its pillars and the star on top.

  • One colour. Black on light backgrounds, white on dark ones and on photos.
  • Never gold, two colours or a gradient. The kente colours only move through the animated mark.
  • Clear space. One pillar of the gate on every side.
  • Written Builtingh. The wordmark is lowercase by design; the name is not.

Colour

Monochrome in the product. Gold, cream and the kente colours are kept for marketing, illustration and the mark's water fill.

Editorial language

Square corners, one text size, two tones. Small capital labels, statements in full sentences, and hairlines where other sites use boxes.

529 commits in ten and a half months. Almost half of them in October, when the scout, search and the ad came together.

Commits per monthDec 2025 to Oct 2026
  1. First commit. Next.js, and a Supabase schema with row-level security.
  2. Project of the Day. Upvotes and the creator leaderboard in the same week.
  3. Waitlist. Prepared for launch in the busiest month so far, 90 commits.
  4. The gate comes down. Project approval removed from public pages.
  5. Editorial language. Admin, emails and stamps redesigned in one style.
  6. The homepage as a story. Ghana first, then how Builtingh shows its work.
  7. Website scout. Paste a link and the project page drafts itself from the live site.
  8. Search tab. A thin tab on the edge that opens into search.
  9. The 30-second ad. Voiced, with each word lighting up as it is spoken.
